Follow these steps to import your members and get your website live

Updated over a week ago

So you've decided to use our product and signed the Licensing and Data Processing Agreements? Let's get to work!

Step 1: Member Administration

Congressus Support can import your memberlists for you, you can contact support with your request on Monday through Friday from 09:00 - 17:00 via chat or e-mail to support@congressus.nl. As soon as you send us an Excel sheet of your member administration in the right format (outlined in this article) we can get started with importing your members into Congressus. The article also contains an example database and a blank Excel sheet with the right formatting.

We will let you know when we finish importing your members. Make sure you check the results: If any errors or irregularities occurred during the import it can be tough to fix them later!

Step 2: Filling your Website with Content

Before going live, it's important to make sure your website offers your members the content they need. Even if they don't need much content, it's important for a website to show that your community is alive and active. After all, an association's website is usually the first thing potential members see. To help you get started we have an article that is dedicated to helping you fill your website, website management. On our website we also have a blog that has some good tips & tricks.

If you're happy with how your website looks and feels, you can proceed to the next step!

Step 3: Hosting

Of course you want your members and potential members to arrive on your website, in order to achieve this you need a domain name. A domain name is simply the digital adres to your website.

If you already have a website, the domain name remains with your current hosting provider. To connect your domain name to your Congressus website there is a number of steps to take. These steps are laid out in this article.

If you do not already have a domain name you can register one through a hosting-provider. Here at Congressus we recommend TransIP.

Step 4: Email Hosting

To use your domain name as a part of your email address (someone@association.com) you have to set up email hosting. If your web-host does not support this, we recommend using Google Workspace for non-profits.

Step 5: Going Live and inviting your members

At this point your website will be live on the right domain. Congratulations! Invite your members by sending an email through Congressus using the tag
{{ ACTIVATION_LINK }} , which will add a personal link to the members' profiles! This article helps you invite your members with activating their account.

Congratulations! You are all good to go to start using Congressus. These articles might be of help to explore and learn more about the functions and features Congressus offers.
