Introduction to Groups and Interactive Groups
Groups allow you to do all kinds of fun things. You can synchronize your existing groups in Congressus to Socie, and then make these groups interactive so that members of that group can communicate with each other. You can also allow members of a particular group (whether interactive or not) to post messages in other modules in the app.
Key rules
If you want to start using “groups” and “interactive groups,” it is important to keep the following information in mind:
You can synchronize groups from Congressus to Socie.
You can also create groups in Socie management itself. This gives your members a lot of freedom with the app. These groups do NOT synchronize back to the Congressus Manager.
Both the app administrator and members themselves (if set up that way) can create groups in the app. These groups will only exist in the app and will not be synchronized with the Congressus Manager.
Both groups (those created in Congressus and those created in Socie itself) are the same within the app and can coexist in Socie without any problems.
You can add members to groups that come from Congressus in the Congressus Manager itself. Adding members from Socie to a group that comes from Congressus is not saved in Congressus.
Groups are not interactive by default. A group only becomes interactive when you add a so-called “Timeline” to that group. You can read how to do this below.
For each group, you can set the rights of the members, who the group administrator is, etc.
The difference between groups and interactive groups
A group is exactly what the word means: a group of members in the app. Through the settings of a group, you can allow all members of the group to post messages in the app on behalf of the group. This is useful for a board, for example.
A group becomes “interactive” when a so-called “timeline” is added to it. This means that members of a group can post messages within the group. In addition, events, media, and documents can also be posted in the group.
⚠️ Freedom and privacy
You can give your members quite a lot of freedom in the app; for example, members can post messages in other modules on behalf of a group.
It is a good idea to check whether you are satisfied with the (privacy) settings for both groups and the settings for each module!
Creating groups
Groups from Congressus are synchronized with Socie based on the folder they are in. You can synchronize existing and new groups with the app. Make sure these groups are in one (or more) folder(s) from which you want to synchronize all groups.
Then, in Congressus Manager, go to Settings, then “Mobile Apps,” and click on the app you want to synchronize your groups with. There, simply select the folders you want to synchronize with the app.
If you want to start working with your new groups from Congressus in Socie management right away, it is usually necessary to update the groups manually (or synchronize them in Socie management).
Creating groups in Socie management
Creating a group in Socie management is very easy: go to Groups in the left-hand menu. Click on Add group and fill in the form.
Manually updating groups in Socie management
Groups are synchronized every night, but you can always perform a manual synchronization so your app immediately has the new data.
To do this, go to Groups at the bottom of the left-hand menu in Socie management. Click on Import to synchronize your groups.
Making groups interactive
Groups are not interactive by default, regardless of whether they were created in the app itself or imported from Congressus.
If you want your members to be able to do fun things together in a group, you can make it interactive by adding a Timeline.
After adding a timeline, some additional tabs and fields with options will appear that can be customized.
