Online membership campaigns

With a campaign you can keep track of exactly how a new member found your association.

Updated over a week ago

Campaigns are included in the Pro and Enterprise packages. If you're not yet using the Pro or Enterprise packages, please contact support@congressus.nl to test the options without obligation.

Campaigns allow you to track how new members found your association.

You can set up different campaigns for different target groups, such as members referred to yours from another website or club. For each campaign, you can track how many people registered with your club through that specific campaign.

Each campaign has a unique URL. By using this unique URL, the new member is linked to the campaign.

Assign specific member status

Additionally, you can assign a specific membership status to new members per campaign. This membership status can differ from the default membership statuses you've set for online membership.

Deviating texts and confirmation email

You can enable different introductory texts, thank you pages, and confirmation emails for each campaign. This allows you to tailor your communication to your campaign's target audience.

Future member status

By setting a future membership status, you make it possible to give new members a different membership status after a set period.

Contribution-free period

By setting a fee-free period, you give new members the option, through a campaign, to pay their membership fee only after a set number of months.

Default value for profile information

Finally, you can pre-determine the value of one or more profile fields for new members who signed up through the campaign. This allows you to pre-select a member's interests, for example.

Unique link for every campaign

A unique link is generated based on the campaign name. This link takes you to the online membership form on the website, where the campaign settings are used.

Campaign saved in cookie

We use a cookie to store information about someone who has reached the online membership page via a campaign URL. When someone returns to the online membership page later, the campaign stored in the cookie is automatically applied.

After you complete the online membership process, we delete this cookie. You can also delete the cookie by ?campaign=adding it to the URL for the online membership process.

Manage campaigns

How do I create a campaign?

In Congressus Manager, go to "Settings > Online sign-up" and scroll down to "Campaigns." Then click "New Campaign."

  • Name - We use the campaign name as a campaign identifier within Congressus Manager. This name also determines the campaign's unique link.

  • Description - This optional description can be used for additional explanation.

  • Published - If this box is checked, you can use the campaign. Unpublished campaigns cannot (or can no longer) be used when registering online through the website.

Click "Create Campaign." You'll now be redirected to the campaign edit page.

Edit campaigns

When editing an existing campaign, you can set additional preferences.

  • Member status - By default, new members can choose from all available membership statuses for online membership through a campaign. If you set a different membership status for a campaign, new members who join through the campaign will automatically receive that status.

  • Custom introductory text - Enter the introductory text that will be displayed when you become a member through this campaign. The default introductory text will not be displayed.

  • Custom thank you page - Enter the text for the thank you page here. The standard thank you page will not be displayed in this case.

  • Custom confirmation email - Enter the text for the confirmation email that new members will receive through this campaign. You can use tags in this email. Available tags will be displayed next to or below the custom confirmation email field.

Don't forget to save your changes.

Advanced settings

There are several advanced campaign settings that allow you to automate various things and improve the new member experience.

  • Future Member Status - Set a new member status that will automatically become active a set number of months after someone joins through a campaign.

  • Contribution group - Add a new member directly to the selected contribution group. This requires the collective invoicing functionality .

  • Free membership period - Set a period during which the new member doesn't have to pay any membership fees. This allows you to automate "first xx months free" promotions.

Working with campaigns

Display of campaign and source in the member's profile

When you edit a member's profile in Congressus Manager, we display both the source (e.g., import, API, online membership, or via Congressus Manager) and any campaigns the member is running. You can find this information on the 'Membership' tab.

Source and campaign are visible in the member profile

Filter by campaign in your membership administration

If you have created one or more campaigns, you can use a temporary filter and an advanced filter to filter on the campaign with which someone joined.

Campaign and source in the export of your membership administration

In the full export from your membership administration, columns are automatically added for the source of the new member (e.g. import, API, online membership or via Congressus Manager) and the campaign, if any.
