Protect your Forms against spam by using reCAPTCHA

Updated over a week ago

The internet is riddled with parties who use scripts or bots to fill out any form they can get their hands on. Some Congressus customers experience issues with spam when they publish their Forms on their website publicly.

In Congressus Manager you can enable reCAPTCHA as a way of protecting yourself against spam. Don't recognise the name? Maybe this seems familiar:

You can enable reCAPTCHA by going to Settings > Forms. reCAPTCHA is a service hosted by Google. In order to make use of reCAPTCHA you need to make a reCAPTCHA enterprise account at Google, which you can do here. The site key and private key that google provides can be submitted in the form settings. The reCAPTCHA will be automatically added to the form on your website. The reCAPTCHA will only be available for guest users on your website, for logged in members nothing changes!

Note: Congressus uses reCAPTCHA v2.0 and v3.0. We advise you to use v3.0 since it gives better protection from bots.

From v2.0 to v3.0

To start using ReCaptcha v3.0 you can simple generate a v3.0 key at the ReCaptcha console and paste they key in de Congressus Manager at:
Left menu: Forms > top right corner: Settings > ReCaptcha

Select v3.0 and add the correct keys.
